WebCTel participates in collaborative to help alleviate the shortage of skilled workers in high-tech occupations.

The Commonwealth Corporation has awarded funds to the first recipients of the Mass High-Tech Entry Ramp Program. This pilot initiative is designed to:

  
  • Help alleviate the shortage of skilled workers in high-tech occupations in Massachusetts
  • Train individuals for high-tech occupations which will increase their skill and salary levels
  • Promote partnerships between businesses, educational institutions, and intermediary organizations to develop industry-driven training programs.
  • The Commonwealth Corporation is a quasi-public organization responsible for administering and delivering a wide range of public and privately-funded initiatives designed to meet the labor needs of businesses; improve current and emerging workers' skills; foster career success through lifelong learning; and retain, sustain, improve and create job-generating businesses.

    WebCTel is participating with American Computer Foundation, STRIVE, Fenway Community Development Corporation, Charles River Public Internet Center,Cisco Systems, Polaroid, WebCTel, State Street Bank, FleetBoston, Children's Hospital, Villa Tech as business & training partners to form the New Economy Technology Training Collaborative. WebCTel has committed to provide job & internship opportunities as a part of the collaborative. The focus of the training centers involved will be to provide Information Technology training for Network Associate positions in the IT field.
