WebCTel launches resource acquisition initiative to support Community Technology Centers (CTCs).

WebCTel continues its urban commitment through the establishment of a web based volunteer and donor matching service (volunteer alliance) on WebCTel.com. WebCTel President & CEO, John Cator, announced at a recent meeting attended by representatives of several CTCs, "WebCTel is in a unique position as a technology company. We talk with a variety of corporations and CTCs on a daily basis and we use these opportunities to identify resources that will help these CTCs deliver the best training possible so that WebCTel can continue our commitment and goal of hiring a large number of WebCTel staff from many of these urban CTCs. Our volunteer alliance is an outgrowth of that commitment."

The volunteer alliance enables individuals wishing to volunteer or companies wishing to volunteer resources, donate money and/or equipment, register their information online. Once the information is submitted, the individual volunteer will receive a list of CTCs that are in need of their skills. The volunteer can then choose which centers they would like to have their information. Corporate volunteer information will automatically go to all CTCs in the database. Karen Chandler, Acting Director of CTCNet, commented, "WebCTel's initiative stands out among for-profit organizations. They are providing a resource alternative for organizations like ours. Identifying volunteers is critical to the success and viability of many CTCs and WebCTel is helping to bridge the gap".
