FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAMBRIDGE,
MA - March 28, 2002: WebCTel Launches 2002 Memphis
in May International Festival Web Site: "Bringing the
World to Memphis & Memphis to the World"
The Memphis in May International Festival is one of the
world's largest outdoor festivals held in the United States.
This month-long celebration highlighting the indigenous
charms of Memphis - and those of a different country each
year - promises to be a fun-filled, family event with
wonderful entertainment and old-fashioned competitions
like the World Champion Barbecue Cooking Contest, the
Great Southern Food Festival featuring the Sunset Symphony,
and the Beal Street Music Festival.
This year, the International Festival will honor Argentina
with a celebration of its customs and culture. In addition
to programs about this honored country, Memphis in May
produces the largest, most dynamic consumer events in
the region.
WebCTel, Inc. developed extensive back-end tools and databases
to bring Memphis in May to its global audience. With nearly
forty corporate sponsors, WebCTel definitely had a lot
on their plate to create sections for each festival, sponsorship
event, and competition. It took over a month to gather
the data and web content, which included marketing copy,
brand messages, and graphic images to infuse a site that
could deliver the "Bringing the World to Memphis & Memphis
to the World" theme into one spectacular and cohesive
visual.
WebCTel dedicated itself to building the right infrastructure
and technology for supporting the site: they built customized
administrative tools to enable the Memphis and May organizers
to self-administer modifications, additions, and edits
to web content. Interfaces were created to facilitate
download and upload of PDFs and graphics to the individual
festival areas of the site. Database functions were tailored
to automate registration listings and email updates. Lastly,
the main page for each festival section has sound and
music features.
"The Memphis in May project was an adrenaline pumping
experience, and our team can truly take pleasure in the
success of this launch. We are just as hungry for the
next new challenge," said Adrienne R. Benton, Senior Executive
Vice President of WebCTel.
WebCTel was featured in the March 2002 issue of Black
Enterprise Magazine. Adding to their credit, after only
three years in business, WebCTel generated a very respectable
half million dollars in new sales in 2001. With all signs
pointing to a healthy interest in the services they provide,
WebCTel CEO Johnny Cator and Benton are set to take the
much-in-demand WebCTel show on the road. In fact, they
are actively pursuing opportunities to expand their business
into New York and Chicago.
